The first half was a blowout, but it didn't hold up after halftime. W. St. John made a mighty effort to take over the game after halftime, but our usual standouts on offense and defense (including Slattery Johnson) made sure that we would walk away with a 17 to 14 win. See the bottom of the page for the semifinal pairings)
It was a long trip to Monroe for the latest Flyer football game, but it was certainly worth it! Defending state champion Ouachita Christian was knocked out of the playoffs by Loyola, in a close game -- the score was 23 to 19.
The weather didn't keep the Flyer football faithful from Friday night's shutout of St. Frederick's (again !). The Simo brothers led the way once more, scoring 12 of the 20 points (Wes Kyle scored the other 8)...

Friday night's game at Coushatta drew a big Flyer crowd for a big game! It was well worth the drive. The game started off on the slow side, but after two big turnovers we were able to shut out the Choctaws with a score of 37-0!
Friday night after the game at Stonewall the Flyers remain undefeated in District 1-2A with thier victory against N. DeSoto. Jonathan Simo rushed 295 yards breaking the school's single-game record of 266 yards that was set in 1936. Simo is also close to breaking the school's record for yards rushed.

Who would have ever thought that we would have defeated the previously unbeaten St. Frederick. Especially with a score of 40-0, ranking the Flyers 3-2 going into our District 1-2A opener this week against Sibley.
WAY TO GO FLYERS!!!!!!
Here is Loyola's bracket for the 2A Football Playoffs:
